Periodic Examination
BS 7671 (Latest revision)
Most, if not all places of work use electricity as a form of motive power as well as heating and lighting.
BS 7671 (Latest revision) clearly state that a Periodic Inspection and Test should be carried out at specified regular intervals as below:-
Type of Building | Inspection Frequency |
---|---|
Commercial (shops, offices etc) | 5 Years or after change of occupancy |
Hotels | 5 Years |
Agricultural Buildings | 3 Years |
Public places (Theatres, Cinemas etc) | 3 Years |
Industrial premises (Factories) | 3 Years |
Quarries | 6 Months |
Construction Sites | 3 Months |
The above standard is a non-statutory document and as such is non-enforceable, however prosecutions can be brought under the Health and Safety at Work Act for failure to maintain a safe place of work for the employees. This is statutory and the installation should be adequately maintained and tested in accordance with the above timeframes.
Periodic Inspection and Testing is considered to be part of this maintenance.
All you need to get a quotation from us is to ascertain how many distribution boards the client has. We don't work on square footage and we are not interested how many circuits there are.
As a Type A Inspection Body accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service all our electrical inspectors hold the relevant qualifications, and are subjected to continued competency monitoring.
